Countdown Timer

Overview

The Countdown Timer feature displays a live countdown clock in your announcement bar to create urgency and encourage visitor action. Choose from three timer types and customize the appearance to match your brand.

Timer Types

Fixed Date Countdown

Countdown to a specific date and time. Once the countdown reaches zero, the announcement bar can automatically hide or display a custom message.

• Best for: Flash sales, product launches, limited-time offers
• Availability: Free plan
• Timer resets: No - runs until the specified date is reached

Evergreen Per Visitor

Each visitor sees their own personalized countdown starting from when they first land on your site. The timer resets for each new visitor, making every session feel urgent.

• Best for: Ongoing promotions, signup incentives, always-active offers
• Availability: Pro plan
• Duration: Configurable from 1 to 720 hours (30 days)
• Tracking: Stored per visitor using cookies and session data

Recurring Resets

The countdown resets at a specific time on selected days of the week. Perfect for daily deals or periodic promotions.

• Best for: Daily deals, recurring promotions, time-limited offers
• Availability: Pro plan
• Duration: Configurable from 1 to 720 hours (30 days)
• Reset days: Select any combination of Sunday through Saturday
• Reset time: Set in HH:MM format (24-hour)

Choose from four countdown display styles to match your announcement bar design:

Displaying Timer Units

Control which time units appear in your countdown timer. You can show or hide:

• Days
• Hours
• Minutes
• Seconds

Example: Show only hours and minutes for a short-duration offer, or display all units for longer countdowns.

Custom Text Labels

Text Before Timer

Add text that appears before the countdown clock. Common examples:

• "Offer expires in:"
• "Limited time:"
• "Hurry, ends in:"

Text After Timer

Add text that appears after the countdown clock:

• "remaining"
• "to claim your discount"
• "before prices increase"

Timezone Configuration

Choose how the countdown interprets time:

Site Timezone

Uses your website's configured timezone. All visitors see the same countdown regardless of their location.

• Best for: Single-region businesses or coordinated global campaigns

Visitor Timezone

The countdown adjusts to each visitor's local timezone. Set a time like "3:00 PM" and each visitor sees it relative to their location.

• Best for: International audiences, local deals, 24-hour promotions

Color Customization

Fully customize the appearance of your countdown timer:

• Text color: Countdown numbers and labels
• Background color: Timer box/button background (if applicable to style)
• Border color: Outline and separators
• Unit labels color: Days, hours, minutes, seconds text
• Opacity/transparency: Adjust alpha channel for subtle effects

Pro Feature: The Circular timer style includes advanced color gradients and animation effects only available on the Pro plan.

Duration Configuration

For Evergreen and Recurring timer types, set how long the countdown runs before resetting:

• Minimum: 1 hour
• Maximum: 720 hours (30 days)
• Granularity: Set in 1-hour increments

Example: A 24-hour evergreen timer gives each visitor a fresh countdown that resets daily.

Recurring Reset Configuration

Reset Time

Set the exact time the countdown resets each day using 24-hour format (HH:MM). Examples:

• 09:00 - Reset at 9 AM
• 14:30 - Reset at 2:30 PM
• 00:00 - Reset at midnight

Reset Days

Select which days of the week the timer resets. You can choose any combination:

• ☐ Sunday
• ☐ Monday
• ☐ Tuesday
• ☐ Wednesday
• ☐ Thursday
• ☐ Friday
• ☐ Saturday

Example: Select Monday through Friday at 9:00 AM for weekday daily deals.

Best Practices

• Match duration to offer: Use shorter timers (1-24 hours) for flash sales, longer timers (7 days) for weekly promotions
• Be realistic: Set deadlines you can actually honor; false urgency damages trust
• Test placement: Countdown timers attract attention; position them prominently in your bar
• Mobile optimization: Use Simple or Digital styles on mobile to avoid layout overflow
• Timezone awareness: For international audiences, use visitor timezone and be clear about the deadline
• Pair with CTA: Combine the countdown with a clear call-to-action button in the same bar
